Position Overview
The Vice President of Operations for Mobix is responsible for overseeing day-to-day logistics activities, optimizing supply chain processes, and driving operational efficiency. This role demands strong leadership, deep logistics and supply chain management expertise, and a proven ability to cultivate client relationships while expanding market share in a competitive environment. The VP of Operations will work closely with senior leadership, department heads, and external partners to develop and implement initiatives aligning with the organization’s strategic goals, enhancing service delivery, and supporting overall profitability and sustainability.Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the organization's strategic vision, short- and long-term objectives, and business growth plans.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to identify and capitalize on new opportunities and areas for growth.
- Operational Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of all operations, including warehousing, transportation, distribution, and client success.
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize processes, reduce costs, and maintain high service standards and on-time delivery rates.
- Establish and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational efficiency, safety, and service quality.
- Financial Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports; ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Oversee cost control measures, revenue growth strategies, and profitability improvement initiatives.
- Review and approve significant capital expenditures and investments to support expansion or technology upgrades.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the executive leadership team; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Align departmental goals with the organization's mission and objectives, ensuring each department meets or exceeds performance targets.
- Recruit and retain top talent, ensuring the organization has the skills and expertise to deliver exceptional service.
- Client and Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary executive contact for key customers, partners, and vendors; build and maintain strong relationships to drive loyalty and revenue.
- Negotiate high-level contracts and strategic agreements with major clients, carriers, and other partners.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and in the media to enhance brand reputation.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and safety standards related to transportation, warehousing, and labor.
- Work with legal counsel and operations teams to mitigate risk, address liabilities, and maintain ethical standards.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of health and safety programs within all locations.
- Technology and Innovation
- Champion the adoption of new technologies, software, and automation tools to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
- Collaborate with Technology leadership to plan, budget, and implement systems that streamline operations and offer competitive advantages.
- Monitor emerging trends (e.g., robotics, AI, predictive analytics) to innovate and enhance service offerings proactively.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in logistics, supply chain, or related fields.
- Proven track record in senior executive roles, with P&L responsibility and experience driving organizational growth.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, multi-site operations in a 3PL or similar environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in supply chain management systems, transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and relevant analytics tools.
- Leadership Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to execute complex operational plans.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to inspire, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to foresee market changes, align resources to emerging opportunities, and set long-term direction for the organization.
- Operational Excellence: Skilled in optimizing processes, reducing costs, and maintaining high service quality standards.
- Financial Acumen: Thorough understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and driving profitability in a dynamic environment.
- Relationship Building: Proven experience creating and maintaining strong partnerships with clients, carriers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
- People Leadership: Exceptional ability to lead cross-functional teams, foster a culture of collaboration, and champion employee development.
- Adaptability: Comfortable leading through change and guiding teams in a rapidly evolving industry.
